Development Overview

The Chatswood Chase redevelopment is underway ensuring that we will be even more beautiful on every level.

The redevelopment will be managed in several stages. Our work will be completed in the last quarter of 2009. 

In a snapshot, you'll enjoy:

  • An additional 70 shops including an expanded high end specialty retail offer.
  • A new contemporary international dining court with seating for 500.
  • An expanded fresh food offer, with the expansion and relocation of  Coles.
  • Improved access and circulation across all levels with the expansion of the    basement and upper level carparks.
  • Victoria Avenue entrance and building façade upgrade, including prominent new shops trading directly to the street.
  • A direct connection to the lower ground floor from Victoria Ave.
  • Kmart will be undertaking a full store upgrade.

Car Parks

Malvern Avenue entry - is being upgraded for your convenience our deliveries will now be segregated from customer entry.  New car park ramps to our new extended car park will be open on in late October 2008.

MORE BEAUTIFUL SPOTS TO PARK

The extension of the B1 and B2 car parks have just been completed and are now open. These carpark levels are the most convenient places to park for services, fresh food shopping, the foodcourt, Kmart and Coles. Please ask one of our friendly Courtesy Crew for a helping hand if you need any assistance navigating your way into the Centre from these new spaces. They are easy to spot in their fluoro pink vests.

More Beautiful Stores

Things are really starting to take shape with development works moving full steam ahead.
The first group of new retailers are set to open in December on Ground Level and will include luxury jeweller Hardy Brothers and fashion brands Ben Sherman and Lacoste. Declic, Speedo, L'Occitane and Sunglass Hut will also be reopening in beautiful new stores on this level prior to Christmas.

Q: How long will the redevelopment work take?
A: Construction has commenced and will take around 22 months with completion anticipated
in late 2009.

Q: Will the new shops open all at once?
A: No, there are several stages to the project. The first major stages opens in March and April 2009and the last stage in October 2009.

Q: Will any of the existing shops have to close during the redevelopment?
A: Virtually all shops will trade whilst the redevelopment occurs.

Q: Will the new parts of the centre look like the existing?
A: It is very important that the new malls in the centre maintain the highest levels of finish and
design as the current centre does so the overall finish will be consistent with the existing
shopping experience.

Q: How will construction be separated from the operating centre?
A: As part of the construction staging strategy, the Construction Zone will be completely
separated from the users of the Shopping Centre through appropriate hoardings, gantries
and safe walkways.

Q: What new stores will be opening?
A: The brands and retailers are not yet finalised but the mix of stores will be in keeping with
the current centre.

Q: Will many construction vehicles be coming and going from the site?
A: At various times there will be construction vehicles visiting the centre.
They will access the centre from Malvern Ave and Havilah Streets.

Q: How will construction impact me, won't there be lots of noise?
A: A detailed noise management plan has been prepared. The plan recognises that some
activities may increase noise levels however, construction will be undertaken in accordance
with the limits defined in the Noise Impact Assessment and Environment Noise Control
Manual and approved by Willoughby City Council.

Q: How will I be informed of changes to the centre during the construction phase?
A: A detailed communication strategy has been prepared so as to appropriately advise users
of the Shopping Centre and occupants of surrounding properties of changes to centre and
access arrangements.
Appropriate signage will be developed and clearly displayed.

Q: If the number of stores in the centre is increasing will this be matched by additional
car parks?

A: Yes, the redevelopment and refurbishment plans include an increase in the number of
car parking bays by over 150.
There will be changes to carpark vehicle ramps linking each of the car parking levels,
new disabled spaces adjacent to lifts and entries, 18 additional motorcycle spaces and 20
additional bicycle spaces. In addition a Carpark Guidance System will be installed which will
indicate to parkers (on an electronic screen) how many spaces are available on each carpark
level as they approach.

Q: Will there be new entrances to the Centre?
A: A new pedestrian entrance will be created via Havilah Street and customers will also
enjoy access from Victoria Avenue to both the Ground Level and Lower Ground Level
of the centre.
